Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectation #5: A Collaborative Contributor
In order to help others, whether students or colleagues, you need to be able to identify your own needs. Prayer can be a powerful medium for which we can develop a more complete relationship with ourself and with God. Prayer allows us to commune or rest with God. In the Bible, Jesus teaches us about and how to pray through the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6: 5-14. In these verses, he reminds us that we need prayer, so we can be in tune with God. In order to grow professionally we need to be able to ask for assistance, be willing to take risks, make mistakes, and ask for forgiveness.
The OCSGE #5: A Collaborative Contributor who:
• Develops one’s God-given potential and makes a meaningful
contribution to society OCSGE5c
• Finds meaning, dignity, fulfilment, and vocation in work which
contributes to the common good OCSGE5d
• Achieves excellence, originality, and integrity in one's own
work and supports these qualities in the work of others OCSGE5g
The following activity helped me reflect upon life's successes, failures, maistakes, times when I needed assistance or forgivenenss, and when consumed by negative emotions. Looking at the different forms of prayer helped strengthen my relationship with God, giving me strength to grow and share in Gods work on Earth.
